An exciting opportunity exists for a Lab Technician at NATIONAL BRANDS LIMITED. The successful candidate will be based at the Isando Biscuit factory and will report to the Lab Supervisor. The main purpose of the role will be to ; – To carry out physical and chemical analysis as required on standard and non-standard raw materials at incoming and in-process (where required) and finished products and/ or; To carry out analysis as required on packaging materials at incoming and in-process (where required) and finished products; To perform all quality/ hygiene related duties in accordance with the laid down Quality Assurance Management System; and To ensure that the Laboratory equipment is fully functional and calibrated.

Job Specification:

Key Performance Areas:

  • Incoming Material Control – raw materials
  • Incoming Material Control – packaging materials
  • Incoming Material Control – new samples (suppliers), NPD and other factories in the group
  • Process Control
  • Hygiene and Housekeeping Maintenance
  • Training in basic Laboratory techniques
  • Non Conformance Handling
  • Plant hygiene and microbiological audits

Minimum Requirements:

Experience:

  • At least 1 years’ experience in an FMCG Company in Quality Assurance
  • FSSC 22000 exposure
  • Experience in a Laboratory environment

Qualifications:

  • A completed National Diploma or B.Tech in Food Technology or a related Food Sciences degree

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of HACCP
  • Knowledge of GMP and GLP
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Knowledge of AIB (Food Safety)
