Introduction

Bureau Veritas Inspectorate Laboratories is recruiting a Mineral laboratory Analyst. The position is based at the Minerals lab in Town Office, Richards Bay – and reporting to the Sampling Specialist.

The analyst’s main responsibility is to perform the work timeously and produce accurate results by performing tests in compliance to the quality policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements
  • 3-5 Year experience in analytical laboratory
  • National certificate/Matric with maths and science – preferably a tertiary qualification
  • Understanding of laboratory equipment
  • SANAS ISO 17025 system course as added benefit

Job Specification

Accountability
  • Perform analytical test work competently and by following relevant National and International Standard procedures including the quality assurance protocols for Minerals at the laboratory.
  • Execute work timeously, ethically and efficiently to achieve required TAT.
  • Check calculations and reports to be correct before reporting it within the expected time.
  • Conduct regular checks and perform the basic frontline maintenance on all relevant equipment and instruments used in the laboratory.
  • Adhere to quality and SHE policies and procedures (ISO 17025; 18001 & 14001) to maintain accreditation and certification.
  • Adhere to and comply with the Bureau Veritas Core Values, Code of Ethics and 3 Absolutes.
  • Investigate and closing of CAR`s through successful root cause analysis.
  • Do weekly stocktaking of consumables / reagents and instrument spares and initiate ordering through appropriate channels to maintain uninterrupted operation.
  • Wear correct PPE at all times.
  • Be alert to dangers around yourself and be responsible for your own safety at all times.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and keep workplace clean and tidy.
  • Perform any other reasonable and lawful duties as instructed by your supervisor or manager as required by the company.
