Full Details For Quality Control Manager Jobs

We are looking to employ a Quality Control Manager at our manufacturing facility in Paarl, to ensure that production standards are met and product quality is maintained with a focus on continuous improvement.

The successful candidates must have:

Knowledge & experience

  • Grade 12 + a Trade test qualification or a similar technical qualification
  • 7+ years’ relevant work experience
  • Must have manufacturing experience
  • Excellent knowledge of quality control standards
  • Knowledge of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes of Construction, or other quality control experience in pressure vessel construction
  • Writing/Reviewing welding procedures and maintaining welding documentation
  • Supervising and maintaining welder qualifications and inspecting welds for defects (undercuts, slag, lack of fusion/penetration)
  • Knowledge of material surface finishes, especially stainless steel
  • General knowledge of engineering materials and material standards. Any experience in material handling and control would be an advantage
  • Understanding of dimensional tolerances (ISO shaft and hole limits and fits)
  • Background in fabrication, welding and/or machining could be helpful
  • General knowledge of heat treatment could be helpful

Skills

  • The ability to read engineering drawings
  • The ability to read and understand standards and specifications
  • Able to use measuring equipment (Verniers, micrometres, temperature and pressure gauges, mustimeters, thickness gauges)
  • Excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage and maintain high volumes of documentation
  • The ability to maintain quality in such a way as to not hinder production
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong computer skills – Microsoft Office and Excel

The primary responsibilities would include:

  • Carry out quality assessment measures of all the products ready to be shipped and incoming raw materials
  • Take a thorough look at the plans, specifications, and blueprints to understand the product requirements
  • Reject all the incoming raw materials fail to meet quality expectations and report the issue to the concerned department at the earliest
  • Resolving quality-related issues adhering to deadlines
  • Design an efficient design protocol which can be used throughout
  • Prepare documentation of the inspection process, which includes detailed reports and performance records
  • Recommend improvement measures to the production process to ensure quality control standards are met
  • Identify problem areas regarding quality, put in place preventative measures to reduce non-conforming components to prevent unnecessary costs
  • Guide the production team about the quality control issues to enhance the quality of the product
  • Monitor customer satisfaction levels
  • Monitor the production phase at various levels
