Role Purpose
Strate’s Data Services business has embarked on an exciting, strategic, data modernization program that will equip us to better serve our client’s and strategic partners needs in the core financial markets within which we operate. Strate, as South Africa’s Central Securities Depository, has mandated responsibilities related to financial data reporting which we must continue to service. In addition to these responsibilities, we are also working hard to develop rich, new, varied actionable products and insights for our internal and external stakeholders
We are looking for an experienced data analyst with data science experience who will work with our internal stakeholders and external clients and partners to develop new, relevant, and insightful products for use internally and within the market
The successful incumbent will form part of a dynamic team of driven individuals who strive to perform and deliver optimal solutions that are innovative and future proof

10+ years working experience in data/technology

  • Engage with and work with clients to develop new products for market consumption
  • Data analytics skills, using SQL, Python and various ML/AI tools and services
  • Can present data results and insights concisely using Power BI
  • Understands (or seeks to understand) data modelling, processes and methods following core data vault 2.0 principles
  • Will make use of DevOps CI/CD pipelines to manage work priorities and deploy solutions
  • Has worked with core Microsoft and Azure technologies like Synapse, Data Factory, Data Bricks, Stream Analytics, Functions and MLOps
  • Responsible for ensuring that revenue targets are tracked and met or exceeded and that any solutions are well-costed and appropriately sized or priced
  • Work to an Agile framework with two-week sprint cycles

  • Must be presentable, personable, and comfortable developing and maintaining relationships with our core clients and partners across the financial markets
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the various data analytics toolsets and functions and be able to create and enhance data services products in partnership with, or for the use of our clients (internal and external)
  • Must be able to articulate and tell a story using data that quickly identifies trends, outliers, and insights to assist with decision-making processes
  • Comfortable dealing with, and managing client expectations, many of whom will be senior and whose expectations may be demanding
  • Should be technically capable, meaning an advanced understanding of SQL, Python, and core AI/ML methodologies and services with Azure
  • Be comfortable following a strictly agile methodology
  • Has relevant financial industry experience so that conversations with clients are pertinent
  • Ideally understands Data Vault modelling, architecture, and processes
  • Is comfortable working with a strict, and highly governed product development process to ensure that what is being presented is of high quality and is accurate
  • Finally, this individual will work very closely with the head of the Data Services business to ensure that revenue expectations are met
