Key Accountabilities:

  • Operational planning, organising, directing, and controlling manufacturing activities whilst ensuring all products are manufactured on time, within budget, and in compliance with ISO 9001 and cGMP quality standards.
  • Manage and develop employees through second-tier managers.
  • Determines customer forecast demands, in collaboration with the Business Development Manager, and plans manufacturing and expenses accordingly.
  • Ensures effective management of Supply Chain, from sourcing of raw materials to supplier contract management and up to the release of finished goods.
  • Ensures total quality management within the team and takes ownership of all quality-related issues within the department.
  • Compiles manages and reports on operational budgets to ensure departmental costs are effectively managed without compromising quality or safety.
  • Provides costing of new products and quarterly reviews costing structures.
  • Ensures that all manufacturing processes are mapped, and continuity plans are compiled for all people and equipment; that the plans are reviewed annually.
  • Compiles regular risk analysis for the scope of operations.
  • Contributes and shares technical knowledge and provides critical thinking to business strategy; provides detailed performance reports for the MD & Board as and when required.
  • Ensures the plant is always fully operational, that regular routine preventative maintenance is conducted, and detailed maintenance plans exist to ensure continuous operations.
  • Provides support to the Product Development Manager to ensure products developed are designed to (from a manufacturing perspective) be manufactured to the latest technologies and trends, and to be the most cost-effective and efficient.

Essential Knowledge / Experience (min 5 years):

  • 5 Years of suitable management experience
  • Advanced Mechanical & Technical Skills (Water Systems; Boilers; HACCP)
  • Sterile manufacturing experience
  • Financial acumen (budget development; financial management)
  • FMCG or BioPharma production background
