More about this Ozow fantastic position 

Ozow is growing rapidly and embarking on a number of exciting and varied projects. We are looking for an Ozow awesome Project Manager to work in our Operations teams. You will work with several of our core business teams to ensure the breakdown of complex ideas into well-defined tasks and ensure key projects are executed and delivered on time, and within budget.  

As a Project Manager you are the link between key business stakeholders and the different teams delivering the work.  You will also bridge the operations of the business with the product and technical business units to ensure a smooth cross-departmental communication hub.  

This is a new role in Ozow, and requires someone both strategic and detailed orientated, with proven experience in setting up a Project Management function.  This truly is a ‘make this role your own’ opportunity in one of South Africa’s fastest growing Fintechs. 

 

You are an ideal candidate if you have: 

  • At least 3-5 years of experience as a Project Manager in a Technology or FinTech business. 
  • Been person number 1 (or near enough) in the project management team in prior roles.
  • A bachelors’ degree in a related field. 
  • A qualification in Project Management such as PMP/Prince 2 or AGILE SCRUM/KANBAN is advantageous.
  • Experience working closely with Technical/Development teams and Scrum Masters.  
  • Experience in large scale CRM implementations is advantageous. 

 

Your roles and responsibilities: 

Full Scope of project planning and management:  

  • Defining project scope via kick offs and alignment sessions. 
  • Creation of accurate project plans, tasks, critical paths, milestones, timings and dependencies.  
  • Preparing and distributing progress reports and ensuring project visibility via Monday.com;  
  • Managing risks and dependencies and creating escalation processes; 
  • Ensuring the project remains within its set budget and plan;  
  • Overseeing the execution of projects. 
  • Assessing and evaluating project success. 

Stakeholder communication:  

  • Responsible for managing internal and external stakeholder communications. 

Process management and improvement:  

  • Defining and implementing best project management practices and processes; 
  • Championing process improvement initiatives. 

 

Your skills and competencies: 

  • Analytical skills. You are able to structure and process qualitative or quantitative data and draw insightful conclusions from it. You exhibit a probing mind and achieves penetrating insights.   
  • Attention to detail. You do not let important details slip through the cracks or derail a project.    
  • Follow-through on commitments. You live up to verbal and written agreements, regardless of personal cost. You focus on key priorities.  
  • High standards. You expect personal performance and team performance to be nothing short of the best.   
  • Organisation and planning. You plan, organise, schedule, and budget in an efficient, productive manner.    
  • Problem solving. You are able to solve problems by analysing situations and applying critical thinking in order to resolve problem. You are able to decide on courses of action and implement the solutions developed in order to overcome problems and constraints.
