Your role

The Strategic Sourcing and Outsourcing Manager is responsible for the end-to-end contractor performance management to ensure on-time delivery of manufactured electronic components and strategic sourcing in-line with agreed KPIs. The role entails co-ordinating complex contractor performance and strategic sourcing activities including scope and specification development, procurement, negotiation, contracting, manufacturing, quality and risk management.

• Accountable for all contractor performance management and strategic sourcing activities that are aimed at reducing the Total Cost of Ownership without compromising on quality and on-time delivery.
• Develop strategies to enable on-time delivery of outsourced/sub-contracted manufacturing requirements.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders including Quality Management, Procurement and Production Planning Managers to ensure on-time delivery of outsourced/sub-contracted manufacturing requirements at optimal costs and excellent quality; while significantly reducing waste.
• Define and implement strategic pricing models for the outsourced programme to ensure that optimal value is realised for each project.
• Lead/participate in sub-contract supplier research, audits, selection and development in close collaboration with the Quality Management Department.
• Ensure that the materials, test equipment, jigs, fixtures and tooling requirements as required by sub-contractors are managed effectively as per approved production plans.
• Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers (including sub-contractors) and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to all strategic sourcing and outsourcing processes and procedures

Your profile

Required skills (Specialist Knowledge Required):

• Good knowledge of supplier markets, customer requirements and business intelligence in general.
• Knowledge about strategic procurement, production planning, manufacturing and project management processes.

Desired skills (Practical Experience Required):

• Verifiable experience in contractor performance management, strategic sourcing and project management.
• Supplier relationship management, effective stakeholder engagement and strategic sourcing.
• An understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Good understanding of relevant Commercial Law, International Commercial law, Export and Import Control regulations, INCO terms and fiduciary responsibilities.
• Ability to work independently in delivering complex market analysis, strategic sourcing, negotiation, contracts management, cost, variance, root cause and risk analysis
• Ability to apply good technical and commercial judgement and to develop and execute medium to long-term development of strategic business relationships
• Benchmarking, best practices and key learning implementation
• Development, analysis and optimisation of Process Flows in a complex manufacturing and engineering environment
• Lean Manufacturing Principles

Qualification:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• A post graduate degree in Engineering/Business Management/MBA/MBL would be advantageous
• 10 years of related experience, with at least 5 years of strategic sourcing, contracts management and project management experience.
