Short Description / Purpose of Job

  • Support the Strategic Initiatives Lead in executing the strategic initiatives to successfully deliver on the Commercial Business transformation plan and ensure all strategic and financial targets are met both in the short and long term.
  • Provide support to the strategic initiative owners in planning of initiatives, including defining initiatives, identifying milestones, and developing clear road maps for implementation.
  • Be seconded to specific mission critical strategic initiatives team to be directly involved in the thinking, development and execution of the initiatives.
  • Track and report on the implementation of strategic initiatives against established milestones and KPIs, including developing report packs for the Steering Committee.
  • Assist initiative owners in identifying roadblocks and interdependencies across the strategic initiatives and business units and processes, and develop a consolidated view for the Strategic Initiatives Lead.
  • Assist initiative owners in developing required capital request forms and submissions to secure capital for the strategic initiatives from Sasol’s capital forum.
  • Develop all required communication documentation on the Commercial Business transformation to the Steering Committee and all other relevant stakeholders.


Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

  • Support the effective definition, road-mapping, and delivery of all strategic initiatives.
  • Provide relevant information to the Strategic Initiatives Lead to enable the development of an integrated transformation roadmap across all the strategic initiatives, noting the interrelations and interdependencies.
  • Utilise the prioritisation framework to prioritise strategic initiatives as part of the integrated transformation roadmap.
  • Fully integrate into the mission critical strategic initiatives teams to provide sufficient support to successfully execute the initiatives.
  • Engage initiative owners to track and develop reports on the progress towards the implementation of their initiatives against established milestones and KPIs.
  • Identify and develop a consolidated view of roadblocks and interdependencies across the strategic initiatives to report to the Strategic Initiatives Lead.
  • Support initiatives owners in the development of capital request forms and submissions and ensure they are completed in a timely manner.
  • Develop all required communication documentation on the Commercial Business transformation to the Steering Committee and all other relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist the Strategic Initiatives Lead in identifying and recommending external advisors required to support on strategic initiatives development.
  • Conduct a detailed review across all strategic initiatives to ensure that all Sasol compliance, policies and other internal and external standards are adhered to and report findings to the Strategic Initiatives Lead.



Formal Education

University Bachelor’s Degree.

Honours, Post-graduate Degree or MBA will be an advantage.


Min Experience


11 years relevant experience with 5+ years of project execution, strategic thinking or business management experience, preferably with specific experience in Energy.
