We are looking for a Ships Agent in Cape Town (CBD) to ensure the smooth docking of vessels for a multi-national customer clearing, freight forwarding and ships agency with offices in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth and Walvis Bay.

DUTIES:

    • Process shipping documents and prepare packages for shipment via air, land and sea

 

    • Work with clients to determine best shipping method based on price, speed and risk of loss

 

    • Evaluate insurance requirements and ensure they are met

 

    • Communicate with clients to ensure they are aware of shipping delays

 

    • Confirm and schedule shipments via couriers if needed

 

    • Co-ordinate with customs to ensure shipments comply with international regulations

 

    • Resolve customer complaints

 

    • Obtain rates from carriers and calculate shipping costs

 

    • Contract freight forwarders to arrange for international shipping

REQUIREMENTS:

    • Matric

 

    • Tertiary qualification – advantage

 

    • 2 years’ experience in shipping

 

    • MS Office, Shipshape / Netsuite

 

    • Able to work long hours – when needed

 

    • Valid driver’s license

 

    • Own transport

HOURS:

    • 07:30 – 16:30 OR 08:00 – 17:00 (Monday – Friday)
