Your Role:
Ekaterra Is in the process of becoming the largest standalone Tea Company in the world, this will give you the opportunity over the next year to bring your experience and contribute to building an entirely new logistics network. Once set up you will then be fully responsible to coordinate the transport of raw materials and finished goods to & from ports / factories and distribution centers (DC). This includes managing 3rd party logistics providers (3PLP) and 3rd party distributors to ensure stock availability and service levels to customers are maintained. Furthermore, you will be in control of evaluating the performance of our logistics operations, the performance of our partners and the service levels to our customers. That would lead you to also develop and implement improvement and efficiency projects throughout the distribution chain.
The role will be closely responsible for the logistics operations of South Africa, whilst playing an oversight and coordination role for our distributors in Ghana and Nigeria.
Your Key Tasks:
  • Oversight of all operational aspects of our 3P logistics providers.
  • Respond to routine customer enquiries concerning service ordered
  • Track the status of orders in our 3P’s system and communicate issues and solutions where required.
  • Monitor performance of 3PLs and report internally into ekaterra
  • Maintain communication on a daily basis with factories, warehouses and 3P’s and take actions responding to their needs.
  • Manage imports/exports of finished goods through 3Ps from various production sites.
  • Monitor, identify and implement improvement opportunities on Cost and Service (incl. coordination with procurement and planning)
  • Balance the operational trade-offs between cost, capacity constraints, and service by proposing and implementing creative solutions
  • Support the evaluation and selection of new 3PLs
  • Support the regional MU logistics lead for AMET
  • Implement new transport lanes if required/ Implement new 3PLs if required
  • Monitor the IT systems and ensure compliance of all operational procedures
  • Manage quality issues and customer complaints arising out of logistics.
  • Provide reporting on logistics metrics
Stakeholder Management and Key Interfaces:
  • Responsible for Logistics between ports/ factories/ 3PMs
  • Engagement with planning teams to define service requirements
  • Engagement with factories to define service requirements
  • Reports to the Supply Chain Lead for Africa
Key interfaces:
  • Regional Logistics lead, Sourcing units/factories, Planning functions, Customer Service teams, Other Logistics units outside your geography.
External:
  • 3PL suppliers, DCs, product suppliers, materials suppliers, freight carriers, third party manufacturers.
Skills and Experience
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics / Supply Chain or equivalent
  • Minimum 3-year experience in similar positions in Logistics / Planning
  • Fluent in English
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Transport Management System knowledge
  • SAP knowledge
