The Southern Centre for Inequality Studies (SCIS) is an interdisciplinary research centre located in the Faculty of Commerce, Law and Management focussing on understanding and addressing inequality in the global South. To support its expanding programme of work, the SCIS wishes to appoint a Communications Officer with demonstrable experience in communicating research outputs and engaging different stakeholders.

The successful person will be someone who is creative, innovative, and proactive with the ability to support a diverse team of researchers and research programmes across the organisation. The candidate must have experience combining text, audio, animation, photography, and video to translate complex information and concepts into creative content using new media technologies for use across multiple platforms.

Brief Description
REQUIREMENTS:

· A Masters/Honours degree in communications or other related field such as journalism, film and video production;

· An advanced multi-media or similar qualification;

· At least 5-7 years’ experience working in a communications-related position in a research or similar kind of organisation;

· Strong portfolio of work illustrating experience across various online and social media platforms;

· Good English skills with demonstrable writing skills; knowledge of a second South African official language will be an added advantage;

· The following professional skills are a must:

o Design and editing abilities (with experience using Indesign, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.).
